The Lord Hides

The other day, I attended a certain meeting. The facilitator of the meeting decided to give us a challenge, a bible challenge. So everyone received a piece of paper with a particular book of the bible. The challenge? Give us a particular verse in that book. Easy, right? Well, it is easy when you’re told to quote a Psalm, or a proverb, or some of our favorite books in the New Testament. I was told to quote a verse from the book of Zephaniah. You know when your confidence is 98% but then it’s reduced to 0%? That’s how I felt. Thank you facilitator😶

I left the meeting quite challenged, resolving to go through that particular book, so that I never have to find myself in such a scenario again. Go through it I did. Learn something from it? I learned a lot.

The name Zephaniah means, the Lord hides. And that is just what I want us to talk about today.Zephaniah was a prophet, who according to the bible history, was born during the reign of King Manasseh. Manasseh is said to have acted so wickedly, more than any other king of Judah. He led Israelites to greater idol worshiping, shedding a lot of innocent blood, including that of prophet Isaiah. Yet while all this was going on, God was able to conceal Zephaniah. Keep him from going astray as everyone else, he was able to hide him from the hands of the bloodthirsty king.

I love this aspect of God. He is able to hide…to conceal. He hides Moses as a child so that he is not killed alongside other male children. He hides Jesus from the Pharisees until His time comes. And even today, God is still able to hide.

In a world where we are exposed to so much cruelty and immorality, God is still able to hide. He is able to keep you from going astray. He is able to keep you from getting polluted with all the weird activities taking place. In an age where things we once considered as taboos are widely accepted and practiced, God is able to keep you safe from them all.

In a world where depression is as common as a headache, God is able to save you from it. He is able to satisfy you, heal you, and keep you from the evil that is all over the place. He is able to hide you, keep you safe amidst crazy disease outbreaks such as Corona-virus.

And my prayer for you today is, may the Lord hide you. May He hide you from everything that is meant to destroy you. By His Holy Spirit, may He keep you safe and pure in this wicked world. He is the Lord who hides.

I agree, the Lord hides us..1Cor.1.8 – And He will establish you to the end [keep you steadfast, give you strength, and guarantee your vindication; He will be your warrant against all accusation or indictment so that you will be] guiltless and irreproachable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah). Right under His wings is where I want to be. Hidden from the cruelties of the world and the forces of the evil.

Ion, I’d have flunked that challenge unless given the book of John…hahaa
